Decisions, decisions. Money, money.
As we all know that surrogacy is not like buying lunch – you don’t eat, be filled, be satisfied and then go. It is not as easy as you think and it is not as affordable as you think too. We have to keep reminding ourselves that we are fortunate to be able to do this in order to reach our family goals. There is so much to think of, and so many ‘stakeholders’ to deal with. One of them is CReATe Fertility Centre, our selected IVF Clinic in Toronto.
We have to decide on which IVF package to go for now that we had our egg donor physically, emotionally and mentally prepared to donate her eggs. In order for our egg donor to go through the preparation of her womb, we had to be signed on to a package. When we decided to go with CReATe Fertility Centre, they only had 3 packages: – Single, Unlimited and Guarantee packages. Today we found out that we have one more package to choose from – the Guarantee Plus Two Live Births package. The initial Guarantee package is now called the ‘Guarantee Plus One Live Birth package’.

Today we found out that we have one more package to choose from – the Guarantee Plus Two Live Births package. The initial Guarantee Package is now called the ‘Guarantee Plus One Live Birth Package’. So now, the packages available to us are:
- Single Package
- Unlimited Package
- Guarantee Plus One Live Birth Package
- Guarantee Plus Two Live Births Package
So what happened was that through the years and months, CReATe found that there are many Intended Parents who want two children. We are one of those who wanted two children. Through their research, they added in one more package to cover people like ourselves – for a small additional sum, they guarantee two live births instead of one, since most of the checks have already been done anyway.
The price difference between the Single Package and the Guarantee Plus Two Live Births Package is not small. We have already thought that the one for one live birth is already pretty steep.
Anyway, we spoke about it and discussed about the fact that if we wanted two children, it would be better for us to go with the Guarantee Plus Tow Live Births Package as failure of embryos sticking within the womb of the surrogate (using all embryos created), will see us getting a refund of all costs excluding the administration fees (a few thousand dollars, still just a very small percentage compared to the full package cost). If we get a first child, and then fails on all transfers for the remaining embryos for the second child, we will get a refund of the difference between the two Guarantee packages less the administration fees.
Since we initially already decided on the Guarantee ‘one live birth’ package, and the refund scheme was pretty sound, it was beneficial for us to go for the next level up.
So we decided to bite the bullet and choose the Guarantee Plus Two Live Births Package with CReATe Fertility Centre.
