It’s been a while since I have posted due to crazy amounts of work I have on my plate and also a crazy supplier of one of my businesses that I had to deal with. In a nutshell, some people just shouldn’t run businesses at all.

We went into an agreement to dropship her products more than a year ago and she was fine with it, and she turned around and decided that her company policy has changed and didn’t even tell me, and tried to lie to me that the product has been despatched.

 

Here is her email trail just for my readers to laugh about – also to share with you what no-nos when you are conducting a business. The only modification to the email trail is the removal of email addresses and the signatures. If you are wondering what products she sells, it is Impact Eco Tableware.

I had an encounter with her previously as well when she commissioned me (as a Marketing Consultant) to redo her Impact Eco Tableware logo, and after it was all confirmed by her, she turned around and say she didn’t like it and that she doesn’t want to pay for it, and told me to sell that newly developed logo to someone else as she doesn’t want it. It was like “WTF! What are you talking about?!” moment. From that moment, I have already thought of her as nothing but a bull-shitter and has no business and work ethic. I continued to keep her on my suppliers’ list as I didn’t want my consultancy business mixing with my online homeware business. I gave her a benefit of a doubt, but she proved to me that she is not worth the effort.

As a rule we do not drop ship. I prefer not to drop ship at all.

It is time consuming and ineffective to fulfil your requirements based on the small amounts you order. It does not work within our business model.

Indeed I prefer not to supply you at all, however, I continue to.

What a pain in the bottom!

Recently, I had a customer who purchased two Wesco products from my Homeware Secrets business. She was an absolutely painful person.

What happened? – you may ask.

On 27 April 2017, Angela (name changed for privacy purposes) emailed indicating that there was a scratch on the lid of the orange Wesco Spaceboy XL 35L Waste Bin that she received that afternoon. She demanded for a lid replacement. As a business person, we do think about the customers, but also think about the cost it will be for us to send another one, especially if it was found to be a damage that was done by the customer. Customer may be right, but there are seriously some arseholes out there who will take advantage of the system.

What we would normally do is to get the lid back to ascertain if the damage was done by the customer or by the warehouse, or by the shipping company. We needed more information. So we asked for further pictures rather than just the scratch on the lid. She sent a few more pictures and continued to demand for a new lid. I was stuck in the middle in this case as that item was a ‘dropship item’ due to lack of storage space at my end. She insisted that she wants a replacement without sending the item back. She was so rude about it and even said she only wants the replacement lid, not a Pen Pal.

She just decided that she would threaten me and exercise authority by lodging a dispute and claim through PayPal, thinking that she would get a refund without returning the item, which cost a few hundred dollars. She also purchased another Wesco item in the same order but she decided to claim the entire amount, when the other item was fine. Luckily the warehouse was in the same state as she is and it was easy to organise for a sales representative to go over to exchange the lid with her. That way, she was not able to claim that the lid was damaged again through shipping of the replacement.

Cutting the long story short, even after getting the new lid, she decided that she would be nasty and refuse to do anything about the PayPal claim. She was supposed to close it, but she didn’t bother. She left it open. PayPal held the money and was not able to release it until they get instructions from Angela to close the claim. They sent her an email. I sent her an email. I even called her to make sure everything is okay, and she hung up the phone on me as soon as she knew where I was from. She refused my phone calls on her mobile too.

It was lucky that PayPal needed her to provide a tracking number for the return of the goods in order to refund the money to her. I knew that she wouldn’t lift a finger to do that, as it will cost her a lot to ship the items back. I also knew that what she was doing is just to prolong the money held in PayPal because she can.

I was lucky that I was not in need of the money, so I let the deadline of 10 days to pass before the money was released. It got released today.

This is one of the customers that really think she is everything, and everyone owes her everything. I did call her workplace as she left her company name for delivery purposes, and because she didn’t pick up my phone calls, and I needed to speak with her. She was not impressed that I was resourceful, as I found out that she was a receptionist at her workplace. I feel that it’s because she was at the bottom of the food chain there at her work, she can only exercise authority and power to retailers like us just to feel good. It really irritated me.

One thing that I will give her though… she has good taste in homewares! 🙂

I have been thinking about this for a while and have kept it in for a good four months now. I think it is high time I get it off my chest. Yes, this is about domestic violence, but it is not about me. It is what I have seen and the hurt that it has inflicted the person in focus. This one is very close to my heart and I have been thinking about it since it happened. We are talking about my bestie.

Over the New Year period of 2016/2017, Cam and I invited my bestie and his partner to Geelong (Vic) to stay with us to celebrate the New Year period with us and other friends of ours, and friends who also flew down from Sydney for it. My bestie flew over from Sydney a few days before his partner did. We offered the spare room for him and also for his partner when he arrived a few days later.

OMG! Some business owners have no idea how to do business or get a sale!

Today, I contacted Murray Case Photography through a Google search for 360-degree product photography. The page that came up within his website was View360. His View360 page states that they specialise in product photography including 360-degree product photography, and I was asking him how much he will charge to take a 360-degree product image for my business. The man who picked up the phone was Murray Case, the business owner himself. Without listening to all that I was going to say, he immediately recommended that I go to “one of the cheap guys” as he won’t do it. He started to explain how good his work is and at the same time critiquing the other businesses (that doesn’t look that bad), about how they do their photography. He didn’t even try to understand what I was after and he just told me to go elsewhere.

I am certain that I have been permanently scarred (emotionally) by the episode with my parents when I came out to them. It was hard and difficult to understand the rejection that I felt and it still affects me till this day. Last night, I dreamt that my parents wanted Cam and I dead (which I know will never happen in real life) because dream-parents felt I was no use to the world and they would rather get rid of the problem (us) than to live with it. I was terribly upset in my dream as I got Cam involved and I was so very lost. We did flee at one point to prevent ourselves from getting harmed. When I woke, I felt drained but happy that it was just a dream and that Cam was still there beside me.
