Letting our surrogate go

Letting go

We had to let her go. We didn’t like doing it.

In our last post, Egg donor decides not to donate, we found out that after many months of delay, our egg donor decided not to go ahead with donating eggs. That left us disappointed and slightly disheartened. This time, we had to let our surrogate go. From having an egg donor and a surrogate to not having any, all within a 2-week period. The decision to let our surrogate go was very difficult. We have thought about this long and hard and through speaking with our surrogacy agency, Canadian Fertility Consulting, we had to make the call and cut the cord.

Egg Donor decides not to donate

Walking away

We didn’t want to hear it, we really didn’t.

We are in the middle of our busy work trip to Singapore, we thought that it would also be a good time to just dive into work and not think about anything surrogacy for the time we are away. We thought wrong. In the wee hours of this morning, we received an email from Sarrie Anderson, Program Manager at Egg Helpers, our egg donor agency. The subject heading of that email was ‘Donor is not able to move forward’, informing us that our egg donor decided not to go ahead with donating her eggs.

Egg donor goes to Cuba

Egg Donor Goesa to Cuba

Yet another egg donor delay

On 22 June 2017, we received an email from our egg donor agency, Egg Helpers. In the email, it says, “Our donor support team has been in touch with your donor and she has informed us she has been surprised with a trip from her boyfriend to go to Cuba. I just informed Hilary (from CReATe) and she said this donation would need to be delayed until August. Your donor is committed to this and apologizes to inform you of this news. She will be ready once she gets back and waits a couple weeks to be medically cleared by the doctor.” Not another delay!

Crazy supplier I had to work with

Thumbs Down

It’s been a while since I have posted due to crazy amounts of work I have on my plate and also a crazy supplier of one of my businesses that I had to deal with. In a nutshell, some people just shouldn’t run businesses at all.

We went into an agreement to dropship her products more than a year ago and she was fine with it, and she turned around and decided that her company policy has changed and didn’t even tell me, and tried to lie to me that the product has been despatched.

Here is her email trail just for my readers to laugh about – also to share with you what no-nos when you are conducting a business. The only modification to the email trail is the removal of email addresses and the signatures. If you are wondering what products she sells, it is Impact Eco Tableware.

Choosing a shipper for our semen deposits

Dryshipper

Getting our little boys to Toronto

Now that we have our semen deposited and they are sitting frozen at Monash IVF, we had to choose which shipping company will be good enough for our little boys to rely on to get to the other side of the world. We researched and also asked CReATe Fertility Centre which companies they recommend. We got to speak with two companies and we got quotes and info from them.
