Omakase experience at Nobu | Melbourne

Omakase featured image

Omakase (Japanese: お任せ Hepburn: o-makase) is a Japanese phrase that means “I’ll leave it up to you” (from Japanese “to entrust” (任せる makaseru)).

Leaving it up to the chef to come up with things for us to eat is normally not what we do. We like to know that what we put in our mouths is going to be our choices so we won’t have anyone else to blame if we don’t like what we are served. That said, we decided to try Nobu Melbourne’s new Omakase offering – we know the chef who provided us with amazing food and we know the experience would be amazing.

Disposable friendships

Fake friends quote image

Is your friendship treated like a switch
– where it can be flicked on and off?

In the last week, I have realised that you won’t know someone until they hear the truth about themselves and what they do with that information. I had a friend of around 15 years and she has finally shown me how much she values our friendships. How she dealt with it was completely uncalled for but it looks like there is no turning back for her.

Chin Chin | Melbourne CBD, Australia

Chin Chin Melbourne featured image

Over the last weekend, we caught up with a couple of new friends down from Brisbane. They wanted to try Chin Chin restaurant in Melbourne CBD. We have heard of the restaurant, and also heard people talk about that place, but we have never been there. One of the biggest reason is that the restaurant does not take reservations for small groups. Most of the time we go out to eat could be only the two of us or a small group like this case, and we don’t fancy standing in a queue just to get food, no matter how good you are. We want to reserve a table, turn up at the time of booking and be seated. No fuss, no rush.

Embryoscope video not recorded

embryoscope video feature image

Hard disk full, you say?

When CReATe Fertility Centre was fertilising our donated eggs with our sperm, we already signed on to a package that included the embryoscope, which is time-lapse embryo imaging – to get the video of the developing embryo from day 0 to day 5. We wanted an embryoscope done so we can have a record of what we have been going through and can eventually show our child/ren which embryo they were from.

After everything is done – getting the results of our embryo development process, we asked for the embryoscope video, which they said they will have to send it to us using a USB stick. As we were heading overseas for work for a month, we had to hold off on the dispatching to us. When we got back, I asked them for it and they came back with this:

Bistro Molines | Hunter Valley, Sydney, Australia

Bistro Molines featured image

Over the weekend, we were in the Hunter Valley for my cousin’s wedding. We stumbled across this gem of a restaurant which we feel needs to be known! Bistro Molines is one of the best places we have been to, and it was a surprise as we only knew about that place through the little motel that we stayed at. We were looking for food options for lunch and we were told to go there for a superb meal. Superb wasn’t it. It was perfect!
