Getting our change from Egg Helpers
We are glad we asked
We have been so excited about the egg donor being so keen to donate her eggs to us that everything happened so quickly that we were still trying to understand what happened. Our speedy egg donation post is here. When things started to settle down, we realised that Egg Helpers, our egg donor agency, did not contact us regarding our egg donor’s progress or status in her part of the journey. It dawned on us that we have not been informed if she needed any of her expenses reimbursed from our trust account that we had with Egg Helpers. There were no receipts sent to us to let us know what is being claimed.

An emotional and scary wait
Creating embryos is such a daunting process. More so because it is completely out of our control! To fertilise the eggs that we retrieved from the egg donor, CReATe Fertility Centre, our chosen IVF clinic in Toronto, Canada, will be using the Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) procedure. It is a procedure where a single sperm is injected into each egg to assist fertilisation using very fine micro-manipulation equipment. We always hear true stories from people that fertilising eggs does not mean that all fertilised eggs will become embryos, let alone them becoming good quality embryos!
Getting to know our new surrogate
History must not repeat again. No way.
Our newly rematched surrogate is Ami Pistone. All we can say is that she is a wonderful woman for wanting to be a surrogate, and to be a surrogate for our future child! When we were told that we have been rematched we were over the moon! We knew we can’t just jump in like the last surrogate. We had to be sure. We were burnt and so emotionally drained, and we didn’t want to go through that again.

When we were informed that our egg donor wanted to donate her eggs for us, we thought it would take a few months to get it organised. We were so wrong! One minute we knew she was taking medications to stimulate egg production, and the next minute she was about to retrieve eggs!
