Peter’s Fish Market section is where I will position my hungry self as soon as I get there. At Peter’s, it is where you will be able to get the freshest seafood that you could just stuff your faces with without fear of contamination. The sashimi is cut fresh for you – you choose a piece or the slab of fish that you like and then get them to cut whichever end that you desire and can even instruct them to cut it to your desired thickness! I love my sashimi thicker so I could taste the fish more with every bite.
One of my favourite sashimi is the uni (sea urchin) which you can get fresh from the urchin shell, or you could have them separated from the shell and cleaned before serving. Everything is laid out nicely in front of you and all you have to do is to point and order. They do have soy sauce (with wasabi included) to buy if you like that. Even additional tubes of wasabi and chopsticks are available for you to buy if you don’t have any. I love wasabi and I would carry my own tube if I have any so I don’t have to buy from there.
Seats at the Sydney Fish Market used to be first come first served, but now the vendors in the market would reserve seats for the constant flow of tourists arriving on massive tourist buses. It is annoying when you have to sit outside even though it could be nicer by the wharf, and under umbrellas, but when you get rain coming through, you will not be well protected.
Back to sashimi. If you love your sashimi and want a fantastic fish feed, go there and you will be able to eat well and save quite a bit of money. I am comparing to good seafood restaurants or Japanese restaurants that have good serves of sashimi.
