We were driving around Williamstown and surrounds one morning over the weekend and we wanted to look fo a cafe for coffee for Cam. We found Kodama Coffee around the corner from one of the main streets and we saw a number of people in it, and a number of people walking away with takeaway coffee cups. So we figured that we should try it out to see what the fuss was all about.

Brown’s the word

My bestie was in town over the weekend from Sydney and he wanted to suss out the original Belle’s Hot Chicken store in Melbourne. There are a few stores that this restaurant opened and the first one is in Fitzroy. The place looked like a diner which was a nice touch compared regular restaurants. We were given a booth seat and we started to look through the extremely short menu in front of us. Even their drinks menu is longer than the food menu.

Over the weekend, we went to South Melbourne Markets for lunch as we were not too far from there. We always wanted to sit in for a meal in one of the restaurants along Cecil Street. We didn’t know what to have, so we decided to pick the one that grabbed our attention. That day, it was Spanish food. The massive pans of paella that took pole position at the front of the restaurant drew us in. Great tactic to get customers coming in, all they had to do was to move half of their kitchen outside for all to see. We were at Simply Spanish.

OMG! Some business owners have no idea how to do business or get a sale!

Today, I contacted Murray Case Photography through a Google search for 360-degree product photography. The page that came up within his website was View360. His View360 page states that they specialise in product photography including 360-degree product photography, and I was asking him how much he will charge to take a 360-degree product image for my business. The man who picked up the phone was Murray Case, the business owner himself. Without listening to all that I was going to say, he immediately recommended that I go to “one of the cheap guys” as he won’t do it. He started to explain how good his work is and at the same time critiquing the other businesses (that doesn’t look that bad), about how they do their photography. He didn’t even try to understand what I was after and he just told me to go elsewhere.

An Evening with Chef Nobu and his Global Team featured image

On Thursday 16 March 2017, for the first time ever, head chefs from 11 selected Nobu restaurants around the world gathered in one space to present us with three Nobu canapés that they do in their respective countries. Free flowing drinks including top quality Sake, Veuve Clicquot champagne and Yesai No Hanna (our favourite Nobu cocktail, and also the top-selling cocktail in Nobu Melbourne) throughout the event. Even Chef Nobu (Nobu San) was running around and being the jolly man he is, speaking to people and taking pictures when requested.

The 11 Nobu restaurants represented at this world’s first event were Perth, Beijing, Melbourne, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Miami, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Doha, Dubai and New York.
