Over the weekend, we went to Bilpin Springs Orchard to pick apples with my 3.5-year-old Godson, Alexander, and his parents. It was a fun day! After that, we headed off to a cosy cottage called Lochiel House for lunch. It was a last minute Google find when we were finishing our apple picking. We headed down Bells Line of Road and got there within 10 minutes from the orchard. There was in and outdoor seating and since it was a beautiful warm day, we sat in the courtyard at the back where all the other people were.

There were around 7-ish tables around there and a jazz band was set up ready to go when we arrived. Maybe they have been performing before we arrived and were on a break. When we sat, the waitress was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable about the food served in the restaurant. It’s the best kind of wait staff you would like around to help you with your meal choice. It makes it better than those who would counter-question you with “Depends on what you like. What do you like eating?” when you ask them what is good on the menu. We like wait staff who have tried the food and can actually recommend with courage and confidence.

With the jazz band going and the food coming out quickly, we were surprised by our impromptu find. The featured cocktail of that day was something that we just kept going for! I can’t remember what was in it, but it tasted like heaven in our mouths. The first look of approval that we gave each other when we sipped it was the type that everyone would want when they sip cocktails.

The chicken paté was to die for, and even the lamb rack that we had were delicious!

With the wonderful staff, environment and food quality, we happy give Lochiel House 9.5 out of 10.
