[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We have been to The Bistrot a couple of years ago for a mini afternoon stopover, and also to get out of the sun. So we had a drink and a little snack. We fell in love with the place so much that we really wanted to go back there in this recent trip, and this time was for lunch.
The decor of the restaurant was decked out with old-fashioned furniture, light fixtures and styled in a vintage manner. They wanted to give the place as much of a vintage feel as possible that they had built a cabinet made out of distressed wood to camouflage the large floor standing air-conditioning. And the other wall-mounted air-conditioning units were painted jet black and housed in a copper-tone wire cages/boxes, mounted onto bare brick walls. Even their chandeliers and cutlery were purchased to give customers the feeling that they have stepped back in time. Every little thing within the restaurant seem to reflect ‘classic and timeless’. It was beautiful.
What about the food? Yes, lets talk about the food. It was good. We had entrees and mains and a couple of cocktails (as we do). The Bistrot not serve Indonesian cuisine, but we it is still something that is better than others. We are not being biased at all. One thing that caught me off guard was the seafood laksa that I ordered. It was different from the said ‘Singapore laksa style’, but it was a good difference. It was like a whole new dish of its own. I loved the taste of it, and also how they used glass noodles rather than the laksa noodles. There was none of those coconut taste, and I was wondering what they have done with it as I really loved it a lot, even when it did not turn out like how it was supposed to be! Anyway, we have taken images of the menu and posted them here, so take a look as see what you would have… I can assure you that the food will give you a pleasant surprise.
We absolutely love their dry towelette pellets. Soak them in cold water and they expand to a decent size cold moist towelette! Refreshing!
We gave this place 8.5 out of 10.
