[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Bambu Restaurant is just next to Alila Seminyak, where we are staying in this trip. All we had to do was to take the buggy out to the main road and walk around 20 steps and we were there! Great location!! I made a booking for this restaurant before we arrived and there was no website to be found. So in order to make a reservation, we had to make a phone call. It was a little troublesome, but it was worth the effort!

We walked in and be greeted by a large pool of water with koi fish everywhere. One of the dining area was literally surrounded by this waterbody and with lights within. And since we were there for lunch, the light shone through the rippled water and cast a beautiful reflection on the ceilings of the various dining areas. We were escorted to the top of one of the dining areas. there is no air-conditioning in this place, so be prepared to get all sweaty after a while especially while eating spicy Indonesian food there. Yep, they serve Indonesian food. Since there is no air-conditioning, beware of mosquitoes, but they seem to have that covered by having mosquito coils lit and smokey under the table at your legs. It did do the trick of warding off pesky flies and mozzies, so all were good at that front!

You know what else is missing that every tourist would be annoyed with? WIFI! There is no WIFI in the restaurant! Maybe they would prefer patrons to talk to each other… I get it, but it is still irritating when we want to start Facebooking our dining experience as it happens! What made it worse was that the food came out slowly and I would much prefer it coming out faster with or without WIFI.

The we ordered was tasty and it set our taste buds dancing especially to the beat of the hot spices. We were warned by the staff that the food is normally hot and spicy, but they can lower the spice amount if we request to do so.

We loved the food there and was extremely happy at the end of the meal. The only thing that was disappointing was the blue river crab which was not a sharable dish. A prawn shared by two people. Not great.

In spite of the lack of WIFI, slower than normal food service, we gave Bambu Restaurant 8.5 out of 10.
