[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Long Chim took a while to arrive in Melbourne. World renown Chef David Thomson is the head of the Long Chim chains, and we have been waiting for a restaurant to land on Victorian soil. It finally took a spot in the up-market location of Crown Entertainment Complex.

We thought it was going to be Asian (Thai) fusion food considering most posh-y Asian places seem to go in that direction. We were surprised by the quality of food there. The chicken skewers were extremely tender to the point that we did have a discussion at the table if there was any tenderisers used in the meat. Their Green Curry of Chicken was spot on. Not many dishes that are not ‘local’ can carry off the authenticity of the dish unless their key ingredients were imported (from Thailand) and used. We have been to Thailand and what made us really happy was the food. It was extremely tasty and leaves us begging for more. This Green Curry of Chicken did just that.

Their Crunchy Prawns took a while to finish. The staff proudly mentioned that the crispy stuff that the prawns are surrounded by in the dish takes them 5 hours each day to prepare. After a while, it just felt like eating deep fried prawn bits. The prawns were also deep friend until it didn’t taste like prawns anymore. Yes, it was so crispy that you can eat the shells and head too.

The Pad Thai was very sweet for my taste but Cam liked it though. To me, that was the only dish that did not conform to what Pad Thai was all about. It was still nice, but after a while, it got too sweet and I couldn’t eat anymore of it. Cam on the other hand, was more than happy to finish it.

For the desserts, the two that we had were stunning. Durian Ice-cream and the Black Sticky Rice. I wanted more durian ice-cream. Cam didn’t eat that as it’s not his type of fruit… so more for me! I lapped it up like a hungry dog. lol. The Black Sticky Rice should normally be served like a soup in a bowl, but Long Chim made it like a cake! Even the coconut milk has been evaporated to a thick paste that could retain the shape it was cut into. Loved every bit of it!

Overall, we gave Long Chim 9 out of 10.
